Handle Classes Taught On Specific Days Of The Week
— May 17, 2010
NiftySchool was originally born with Callan method classes in mind. Language schools using the Callan method often run classes every day Monday to Friday, so this was the default configuration in the database.
In reality, not all classes are equal. Many schools run classes only a few days a week, and want to track them properly.
We’re introducing a new configuration option, so that the days of the week when classes are taught can be correctly specified.
Thanks to this change you can now handle all the possible schedules, from daily classes to weekly lessons, and everything in between.

To see this new options, click on the Classes tab, select the class you want to edit and follow the edit details link.
When creating a new class, all of the week days will be selected by default, but you’re free to customise them to reflect your class calendar.
What other parts of the system are affected by this change?
- Student enrollments will show the class days
- The hours per day will be inferred from the days a week

- Absences are not shown if class is not taught on a day
- Attendance percentage is calculated accordingly
We hope you find the change useful. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment in the section below. Enjoy!
