New Alerts Help You Manage Visa Students

— Aug 05, 2010

Recently, one of our customers in the UK was inspected by the UK Border Agency (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk) as part of his accreditation process.

Institutions wishing to enrol visa students need to follow a strict set of rules, and report to the UKBA when certain conditions are met, for example:

  • A students misses 10 days of his or her course of study without your reasonably granted permission.
  • The attendance percentage falls under a given threshold.
  • The visa has expired.
  • The identification document has expired.

To support these scenarios and help schools have more control over their visa student accounts, we expanded and improved the alert system to provide a wider range of alarms.

The alerts system allows you to both spot cases that need to be handled immediately (e.g. ‘ID document expired’) and to take care of cases which may become problems in the future (e.g. those students whose ID documents will expire within the next 30 days).

You can then contact your students and resolve the problem before it’s too late.

By clicking on the alert link, you will be taken to a detail page which lists those students matching the specific alert, along with contextual information.

For example, if the alert notifies the user on an attendance percentage falling below 85%, the attendance percentage for each student will be shown.

The full list of alerts include:

  • Visa expired
  • Visa expiring in 7 days
  • Visa expiring in 30 days
  • Visa details need to be checked
  • Attendance falls under 85%
  • Attendance falls under 80%
  • ID document has expired
  • ID document expiring in 30 days
  • A course with visa students is expiring
  • A student has missed three lessons in a row

To access the new alerts, just follow the Alerts link in your Dashboard.

We’re also planning to add other alerts. Feel free to suggest what you need the most using our contact form.
