Added Support for American Visas and US Date Formats
— Nov 10, 2010
With NiftySchool expanding to the U.S. market, we have updated a few sections of the user interface to conform to the U.S. standards.
Language schools in different countries need the system to reflect the terminology and conventions used in their country.
Affected areas include the following:
- Visa names
- Date formats (you can now use the MM/DD/YYYY convention)
- Updated naming conventions throughout the system
You can see an example of the difference between the UK and US version below:

Language schools in the UK keep track of passport number and expiration date for their Visa students. Dates take the European format: DD/MM/YYYY.

American schools are more interested in the SEVIS ID and the expiration date of the student’s financial record. Note that dates automatically use the U.S. convention, MM/DD/YYYY, in the date fields and calendar helpers.
As an administrator, you can change your country settings from the Account/Billing screen:

Is this only for the U.K. and U.S.?
No. Labels, Visa names, and dates can be modified on a per-country basis, so feel free to send your customisations to info@niftyschool.com.
If your already have a NiftySchool account and you are not in the U.S., don’t worry. Your settings have not changed, and your user interface has been left untouched.
