How Much Money Do Language Schools Earn Enrolling Visa Students?
— Mar 14, 2011
In the UK and the US, visa students are a big business opportunity.
Students who apply for a Visa in your country, study for a longer period of time – guaranteeing a higher and more stable profit for the school.
But what exaclty is the impact that visa students have on the school revenue?
Is it advisable to go through the process of registering with the British Council (or equivalent local entity) and get the accreditation, or not?
We analised data from our top customers from August 2010 up to February 2011 and these are our findings:
1) 44.5% of the payments are received from Visa students
2) 40.1% of the students applied for a Visa.
This means that:
- Without Visa students, the schools would half their revenue
- Visa students spend 5-10% more than standard students
We feel it’s important to keep these figures under control, and that’s why we added a new ‘Payments from Visa’ report that allows you to check how the payments coming from visa students are doing in your school.

The new report tracks the payments coming from visa students and compares them with the total amount of payments taken.
You can access this report under the ‘Reports’ tab if you have Admin or Manager access with NiftySchool.
