Improved Support for Private Classes
— Mar 31, 2011
Hello everyone! With NiftySchool expanding to new countries and serving more and more schools we’re taking incremental steps to improve features and functionality that will benefit all of our customers.
The latest addition is improved support for private classes, also known as ‘one to ones’.
While you could always ‘simulate’ a private class by creating a standard class with a single student in it, the process was neither smooth or optimised.
Under the classes tab you will now find a new “Add private class” button that will serve this purpose better:

One to one classes are similar to standard classes, but they allow you to select one teacher and one student in a single go for quicker set up:

The student’s enrollment for the class is also created for you and added in the student’s Enrollments page:

You don’t need to create a private class for each individual lesson.
You can set up start and end dates according to the period in which the student will be attending – and track the attendance for each lesson.
In the private class’s page, you can edit attendance and track how long the lessons really lasted, in hours and minutes (eg: 1h 35m).
This is useful as private lessons often overrun and you may want to keep track of it to charge students accordingly.

All your private classes will appear in the Classes list with a orange ‘Private’ marker, and you can easily filter them by typing ‘Private’ in the search box.

This is just the first step towards better management of your private lessons, stay tuned for further updates and feel free to send your comments to info@niftyschool.com.
