We Are Removing The 'Misc' Tab

As described in this post, we’re adding a new Accommodation module to NiftySchool.

In order to do that, we needed to clean up the interface, and make room for a new ‘Accommodation’ tab under the student profile.

We decided to remove the ‘Misc’ tab, because many of its fields weren’t widely used, and we could make better use of that space.

Important fields such as “Interest” and “How the student heard about the school” are being moved under the ‘Details’ tab to make them more prominent, others will be removed alltogether.

Let’s see exaclty what will happen to each one of those fields:

Interested in: this field is important and will be moved under the ‘Details’ tab.

How long has studied before/how long has been in the country/how long will remain: these fields will be removed but their values will be copied into the student’s notes, under ‘Details’.

How the student heard about the school: this field is important and will be moved under “Details” and renamed to “Contact Media”.

Trial lessons: this will be moved under ‘Details’.

Level reached when leaving: this field will be removed because the progress level can be tracked as assessment test under the ‘Exams’ tab. Existing values will be copied into the notes under ‘Details’.

Total hours attended: This will be removed as the total amount of hours can be seen, automatically computed, from the Attendance tab. Existing values will be copied into the notes.

Last attended day: As per the total attended hours this field will be removed as it’s computed value can be seen from the Attendance tab.

At the bottom of the ‘Details’ tab, you will find Contact Media, Interests, and Trial lessons details:

When creating a new student, you will be asked to fill in Contact Media and Interest, so that you’re less likely to forget them:

Old values will also be copied to the notes to make sure no infomation is lost in the process:

We believe these changes will make the software both clearer and more consistent, while making room for the new functionalities.
